(Manhattan, Kansas, April 18, 2023 ) — At 9:21 p.m. on Tuesday evening, the Manhattan Fire Department was dispatched to 156 North Dartmouth for a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, crews found a two-story residential home with heavy fire on the back of the residence.  The fire extended into the attic space and was extinguished within 30 minutes.  A total of 16 firefighters responded on 6 fire apparatus with units still on scene at the time of this release.  One occupant was evaluated by Riley County EMS for smoke inhalation.  The single-story residence was occupied at the time of the fire and residents evacuated prior to our arrival. Loss is estimated at $25,000 to contents and $75,000 to the structure.
