Clay Center, KS- Clay County’s Mural Movement of Clay Center is launching their first mural design contest. You can find the mural’s all over Clay County.  The Mural movement began in 2020 originally focused on installing a single mural in downtown Clay Center as a Rotary International project.

There was a lot of interest generated from the first mural which turned into forming a committee.  There are over 20 murals in Clay Center and a few other Clay County communities with several more in the planning stages.

Jacob Lohremeyer, a committee member, spoke about the contest that will be taking place and said that the contest is open to anyone, however because of regulations, they are only able to award the cash prize to a winner who is at least 18 years old.

The theme of the new artwork is to be considered “Kansas Life.”  And what exactly “Kansas Life” is, is all up to the artist.

Lohremeyer goes on and says that these projects are supported by generous donors and without their support and the support of the community they wouldn’t have been as successful as they have been since the project has started.

You can check out the murals around the Clay County area by visiting their Facebook page at Mural Movement Clay Center or their Instagram page at Mural Movement CC.
